1. EVENT: Fondation Suicide Action Montréal, All Star Show

Pour entrer dans cette nouvelle année 2010 le plus positivement possible, la fondation Suicide Action Montréal et la radio Web Mydreamradio.com présentent: The All Star Show.

Cet évènement se déroulera le samedi 30 janvier prochain au Théâtre Rialto (5723 Av. Du Parc, Montréal). En réunissant les étoiles de la scène urbaine québécoise, des designers de mode et la touche musicale de Djs les plus en vogue en ville; les organisateurs souhaitent éblouir les spectateurs. The All Star Show se veut l’introduction d’une année 2010 flamboyante, où l’espoir de jours meilleurs animera les personnes attristées par la vie. 2. WORKSHOP: ACEF, Dealing with Debts Workshop

Dealing with Debts Workshop is now offered in English. Are you in debt and finding it hard to cope ? In this free workshop you will learn about different solutions to better understand your situation and take action! Join us on Wednesday January 13th 2010, 6:30 to 9:00 PM at ACEF South-West of Montréal, 6734 Monk (corner Allard). Registration is mandatory, please call: (514) 362-1771. 3. WORKSHOP: Access Adult Education Centre, Free Evening Courses

Access Adult Education Centre will be offering the following free evening courses:

Introduction to Care Giving ( certification) 120 hours Jan 11 to June 9, First Aid (with certification) 30 hours Jan 25-Feb 24, Healthy Cooking and Living 45 hours March 8 to April 28, Income Tax Returns (personal, small business ) 60 hours Jan 6 to March 22, Computerized Administrative Correspondence 60 hours Jan 18 to March 31.

Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday , from 6:30pm to 9:30 pm . The courses are free, but a minimal fee for materials may apply. 4. WORKSHOP: AMI Quebec's Free January Events

Support Groups for people living with mental illness on first three Mondays of January at 7:30 pm, a 6-Week Psycho Education Program beginning Tuesday January 26 at 7:00 pm, Roundtable Discussion Monday January 25 at 7 PM “How to Communicate So Your Message Gets Across” (must register at 514-486-1448), Tele-workshop January 20 at 7:00 pm “The Double Whammy of Mental Illness and Addiction” (must register at 1-866-396-2433). 5. WORKSHOP: QPIRG Concordia's Activism for Students 101

Activism for Students 101 is open to students from any campus or college in Montreal, and no need to reserve in advance, you can just show up! This year, QPIRG Concordia presents monthly sessions about activism and community involvement for students. These sessions are meant for anyone who is curious or interested in getting more involved in their community, and engaging in social and environmental justice issues. There are four Activism for Students 101 workshops scheduled for 2010: Thursday January 7 at 1pm, Monday February 1 at 1pm, Wednesday March 3 at 1pm, Thursday April 6 at 1pm. All scheduled workshops take place at the QPIRG Concordia space at 1500 de Maisonneuve West, #204 (metro Guy-Concordia), above the Café Depôt.

6. CONFERENCE: Tournée d'appropriation sur l'action communautaire autonome

Le Réseau québécois de l'action communautaire autonome (RQ-ACA) entreprend une tournée des régions du Québec qui porte sur l'action communautaire autonome et plus particulièrement sur le contenu du Cadre de référence en matière d'action communautaire.

Sujets abordés lors de la séance : comité aviser au RQ-ACA (bref survol), cadre de référence (bref rappel des négociations entourant sa rédaction), contenu du cadre de référencé (notamment les critères de l'action communautaire autonome), politique actuelle et les enjeux entourant l'élaboration éventuelle par le gouvernement de nouveaux éléments de politique.

7. JOB OFFER: QPIRG McGill, Outreach Coordinator

In order to qualify you must be approved by McGill as a work-study student. We are looking for someone committed to the mandate and vision of QPIRG who can help to forge these important links between students and their community, in particular through the CURE project.

The Montreal Review of Books, a nationally-distributed book review, is looking for a local Advertising Manager. This resourceful and dedicated individual will have strong sales skills, an interest in books and be fluently bilingual. Sales or advertising experience with a non-profit an asset. The 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy is currently hiring a Finance, Administrative and Resource Centre Coordinator.

Requirements: a background in accounting/ familiarity with double-entry accounting, proven experience in the field of administration for non-profits, strong organizational and communication skills, good working background regarding a financial understanding of non-profits, bilingual in English and French, ability to work in a PC/Mac hybrid environment, demonstrated a dedication to social justice particularly as it relates to gender and its intersections.

Offered free of charge, YES’ new “Pay It Forward” Mentorship Program assists the transition from school to work or self-employment, as well as emerging artists in the early stages of their careers, through the transferring of knowledge from mentor to mentee.
