The Activity Coordinator assists older adults in defining their program needs and in planning strategies which will respond adequately to those needs; offers a wider range of quality programs which will improve the quality of life of older adults; responds to the different needs of each individual, by providing a wide range of opportunities for group and individual involvement; and evaluates the impact of strategies and programs with older adults.
Key areas of responsibility
Coordinate program planning and implementation
Supervise and/or lead the animation of activities, special events and trips
Assist in recruiting, training, supporting, supervising, and motivating volunteers
Supervise, mentor, and guide support staff in helping them fulfill their responsibilities.
Provide information and referrals to 50+ citizens
Prepare and distribute monthly newsletter/calendar
Assist with organizing fund raising activities
Oversee evaluation of Programs related to the Agency’s Strategic Plan
Assist in statistical data collection necessary for overall evaluation purposes
Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of the kitchen related to the Prevention programming , i.e. cleanliness, organization, supplies etc…
Occasionally, represent the Centre at community committees and outreach initiatives
Participate in the preparation of annual reports
All other duties as assigned regarding the operational duties of the centre in addition to any special projects.

The Activity Coordinator reports to the General Manager.
Job Conditions
35 hours; Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm
Salary: 21$ to 23$an hour
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in social sciences or related studies or equivalent work related-experience
Experience with older adults is an asset
Experience in group dynamics and interpersonal relationships
Program planning development and implementation skills
Must be able to function as a member of a team as well as independently
Knowledge of community resources particularly in the areas of services to the aged
Must be prepared to work weekends and evenings
Must be computer literate primarily with Microsoft software.
