Job description
Apathy is Boring is a youth-led organization offering employment opportunities to young and diverse people placing young adults in decision making and community building roles.
Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements of this pan-Canadian non-profit organization. This position requires a person with keen attention to detail and experience working in accounting software. Experience with full-cycle accounting , budgeting and tracking experience and Sage50 (Simply Accounting) is required.
Finance Responsibilities
Responsible for postings most financial transactions in the accounting software, including credit card payments/purchases, payroll entries, etc.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly project tracking in Excel workbooks
Work closely with the Finance and Operations Manager to ensure all month end and quarterly accounting reporting is complete
Analyze/flag any items surpassing budgeted numbers
Liaise with Finance and Admin Coordinator on receivables, payables, credit card purchases, etc.
Coordinate and assist auditors with yearly financial audit
Assist with preparation of spreadsheets, and budgeting documents
Skills/experience
Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, or related field
3 years minimum work experience in a related role
Experience with Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), bookkeeping processes and practices (GAAP), holding full cycle accounting process
Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge– ability to effectively analyze data using formulas and other functions
Financial management experience in non-profit sector an asset
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to plan and prioritize workload
Work well in a team environment
Bilingualism an asset
