“THE MAGIC OF LIGHT”
Exhibition: Saturday and Sunday August 25th and 26th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
Edgar Degas: Highly celebrated 19th century French Impressionist.
Join us for our 17th anniversary of this juried art exhibition which provides opportunities for artists to not only expose their works to the public in a very unique venue but also to win cash prizes and have their work appear in publications of the organisation of the Friends of the Mount Royal Cemetery. In 2002 we hosted what was to be a one-time art exhibition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Mount Royal Cemetery but soon realized this was a wonderful opportunity to promote local artists. Artists may display a maximum of 6 works with one depicting the cemetery.
Join with us this year and share your works depicting how “The Magic of Light” affects every aspect of life. It may be the sun simply appearing and disappearing over the horizon or transforming barren landscapes with warmth as it melts away the last remnants of the cold winter months; perhaps it is the glimmers of light peeking out between the trees or lifting the veil of darkness at dawn. Whatever the case may, “The Magic of Light” affects our everyday lives in endless ways, often graciously bringing with it a sense of peace.
Discover the hidden treasures that exist in the tranquility of this magnificent garden cemetery and share “The Magic of Light” in the incomparable setting of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex located at 1297 Chemin de la Forêt on beautiful Mount Royal in Outremont.
The Friends of the Mount Royal Cemetery helps preserve and promote the tremendous natural and historic treasure that the Mount Royal Cemetery has become since its founding in 1852.
