Job Description:

Collective responsibilities include contributing to and participating in the overall health and well-being of the organization. Collective members spend the bulk of their time working with the public in a busy store environment: stocking; receiving orders, handling cash transactions; and orienting volunteers. They also spend a significant amount of time cleaning, tidying and organizing cafe, kitchen, office and stockrooms. Collective members are also required to attend weekly meetings within a consensus model. Collectively, collective members are responsible for managing the budget of the organization and all financial tracking. At Le Frigo Vert, new challenges constantly arise that collective members must be able to deal with.

Much of the work at Frigo is structured around 4 committees: The Education/Outreach Committee, The Space Maintenance/Administration Committee, The Finance Committee, and The Human Resources/Payroll Committee. The applicant will work on at least 2 of these committees.

*Employment Equity:

The Le Frigo Vert hiring committee recognizes the structural injustices and prejudices that impact our experiences, living in a neo-colonial, capitalist state founded on the discrimination of people based on their race, class, ability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, and body type (NOTE: this is not a comprehensive list, but is meant to provide examples). As an attempt to address systemic  inequality while at the same time prioritizing the  projects of the Frigo Vert, employment equity will be used to differentiate between candidates who meet the required qualifications.

If you identify as a member of a marginalized group, or have an experience that is outside of the standard work market, we strongly encourage you to apply. Please indicate if you would like to be considered for employment equity by including the following sentence at the end of your cover letter: “This is an employment equity application.” In order to avoid tokenism in hiring, as well as to empower candidates to choose whether or not they wish employment equity to apply, we will not ask about employment equity during the interview. Feel free to emphasize any experience that you feel would contribute to Frigo Vert’s environment and address any of the issues mentioned above.

The interviews will take place in English

The interviews will take place between Tuesday November 7th and Sunday November 12th 2017.
