About the NDG Food Depot
Founded in 1986, the NDG Food Depot is a community-based non-profit organization that works collaboratively with its community to address the root causes of hunger and poverty in NDG and the surrounding areas in a manner that ensures dignity, community engagement and the development of human potential.
At the NDG Food Depot, we offer programming to support the food security and healthy eating habits of youth, families and individuals. These activities include community meals, kitchen workshops, after-school programs, gardens and farmer’s markets.
We are currently looking to hire a creative and experienced Communications Coordinator to help guide and manage the Depot’s outreach and design needs.
This is an exciting time at the Depot. We have recently merged with two other local community organizations and are undergoing a rebranding process. The Communications Coordinator would help implement our vision and our messaging and develop communication plans and materials for all our programs, fundraising and events.
The Communications Coordinator Position
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading the organization’s communications strategy. Working closely with the Depot’s senior management team and program coordinators, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and
implementing a strategic communications plan, as well as coordinating both internal and external communications activities.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
Develop and implement a plan, strategies, tools, and policies that support external
communications, including an overall yearly organizational communication plan, as well as
communication strategies for each program
Develop, design, write and manage all communications material (newsletters, brochures,
reports, flyers, posters, etc.) that support the Depot’s activities to all stakeholders
Ensure a dynamic online presence (website, social media, blogging, etc.) and maintain the
Depot’s website
Ensure the distribution of pertinent information across all channels (website, brochures,
forums, etc.)
Support the management of media and government relations
Coordinate all mailings
Plan, support and participate at public relations events that benefit the Depot’s visibility
Develop, update and implement a Depot branding style guide
Develop and manage internal communications policies and processes
Specific skills and experience required:
Previous experience managing or coordinating communications
Document design and proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Excellent written communication skills in both French and English
Strong verbal communication skills in both French and English
Experience working with community organizations
Interest in food systems and food security issues
Experience with capital and fundraising campaigns, an asset
Attributes:

Working conditions:
Salary: $19/hr plus benefits
Full time, 35 hrs/week
