Project Genesis, a community organization located in the culturally diverse Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood, seeks two people for two full-time (35 hrs/wk, 5 days/wk) positions, one a one-year contract and one a permanent position, as community organizers working on issues related to welfare rights and other anti-poverty issues. They may also be asked to work on issues related to housing rights.
· Primary tasks include organization of campaigns and actions, mobilization of people directly impacted by poverty, facilitation, media work, popular education activities, appropriating and communicating detailed information regarding welfare and housing rights, and coalition work with other community groups across Montreal and Quebec.
· Requirements: motivation to defend the social and economic rights of people living in poverty; interest in the community movement; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; bilingualism; including French written skills; effective communication skills; ability to work both autonomously and in a team, and to make constructive links with our Storefront individual services. Experience within social change organizations or movements will be considered an asset.
