Reporting to the Manager, Student Life and to the Dean of Students, the incumbent develops, administers, and coordinates services and programs that promote student leadership and volunteerism. He/she supports the University’s commitment to enhanced student experience, community engagement and social action as well as the department’s role in community building on campus.
- Manage the LIVE Volunteer Resource Centre.
- Hire, train, schedule, assign work to, monitor, evaluate, and motivate student staff.
- Monitor budgets and resources to support programs, and services.
- Advise students one-on-one as well as in groups to assist them in developing strategic volunteer opportunities in line with their career goals.
- Establish and keep up to date a database of volunteer opportunities.
- Develop leadership and volunteer opportunities, workshops, programs, and services in response to student initiatives and to needs expressed by community partners.
- Collaborate with the Coordinators, Student Engagement, on the implementation and coordination of student engagement programming.
- Develop and maintain links with internal and external volunteer organizations and travel as required.
- Develop and implement on-going communication strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of relevant work experience in a coordinating role, in providing leadership to volunteers or staff, and in promoting volunteerism to varied stakeholders. Experience in animating workshops.
- Demonstrated involvement in volunteerism; knowledge of best practices in volunteer management and engagement.
- Good knowledge of the Montreal community sector. Openness to working with external organizations.
- Good knowledge (Level 4) of written and spoken English and French to inform and advise clients and to communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
- Basic knowledge of Word and PowerPoint. Ease at learning new software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; ability to deal sensitively with clients and partners; client focus and approachability.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills; ability to multitask and to work under pressure.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team and independently in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to collaborate with various units and to act as a liaison between the University and members of the community.
$60,610.55 – $72,396.19 per annum
