Director & Community Initiatives @ West Island YMCA

The selected candidate will join Community Initiatives team at the West Island YMCA and contribute to the development of the communities served by the centre. He or she will represent the YMCA in his or her area and promote the YMCA of Québec’s community programs and services in the West Island.

In addition to supervising current community programs, the candidate will identify growth opportunities and maintain strong partnerships with community stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures local community programs meet the needs of the community and are in line with the Association’s strategies.
• Represents the YMCA’s Community Initiatives in the community.
• Ensures sound management of the sector’s operations (finance, human resources, administration).
• Creates, develops and maintains harmonious and lasting relationships with the area’s different partners and stakeholders.
• Identifies funding sources for the community programs.
• Prepares grant applications and responds to call for tenders.
• As a member of the centre’s management committee, works with other programming sectors and encourages synergy.
• Adheres to the YMCA Child Protection and Vulnerable Persons Policies and Procedures.
• Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy in both specific position and Association, and participates in the Annual Campaign and/or other fundraising events.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in applied social sciences or significant management experience with a charitable organizations.
• Minimum five (5) years of managerial experience in the community sector and experience managing a team.
• Familiarity with social issues, challenges and trends in the community sector, clients and key community stakeholders.
• Significant experience with regards to local round tables.
• Very good knowledge of community programs and policies and applicable laws.
• Solid understanding of finance, accounting and human resources.
• Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
• Strong computer skills (MS Office).
• No criminal record in connection with employment.
