The Cause
Founded in 2004, Apathy is Boring is a national, youth-led non-partisan, charitable organization that supports and educates youth to be active and contributing citizens in Canada’s democracy.

Job Description
The Program Manager, RISE (East) will be responsible for the oversight and for coordinating resources, activities & key personnel of the RISE program in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax. They will ensure program deliverables & timelines are achieved, in accordance with the program plan & budget.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager, RISE (East) will work alongside the Program Manager, RISE (West). The Program Manager, RISE (East) and the Program Manager, RISE (West) will ensure effective development, implementation and, monitoring of the RISE program as well as other complimentary projects. They will also work with the Management team, including Research, Communications and Finance.
The Program Manager, RISE (East) will oversee the RISE Project Coordinators based in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax.

Conceiving & Planning
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West) set RISE program objectives and goals
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West), adapt curriculum and programming that aims to improve the overall well-being of the RISE youth participants
Bring an equity lens and population focus to all strategy work, program development, and content development
Identify, recommend, and pursue opportunities to enhance the RISE program that support Apathy is Boring’s strategic goals

Organizing
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West), develop and control deadlines and activities for the RISE program
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West), develop content and lead logistical planning for bi-annual RISE retreats
Keep master calendar of scheduled activities and events and initiate project management plans for each
Assist with the preparation, communication and distribution of RISE program plans and budgets

Staffing
In collaboration with the Programs Director, lead hiring and staffing of RISE project Coordinators based in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax
Working closely with project coordinators based in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax to ensure deliverables are met and HR support provided
Oversee HR needs, including monitoring Project Coordinator’s work plans
Coordinate staff training days and group activities
Conduct evaluations, hold regular check ins as well as appreciation activities for Project Coordinators
Leading
Work with the Programs Director to identify partnership opportunities to strengthen linkages with organizations and partners in communities and across Canada
Coordinate with Communications team on participant recruitment, and ensure program materials are shared and timely
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West) coordinate with Programs Director on RISE program content and review when needed
In collaboration with the Program Manager, RISE (West) and the Program Director, work on program and community project risk mitigation strategies

Reviewing
Travel to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax to support Coordinators and review the program roll out across different communities
Assess program performance working from KPIs, objectives and goals set out in the Evaluations Plan and grant deliverables
Support the Evaluations Manager as needed in developing and reviewing documents, preparing overviews, backgrounders, and project interim and final reports
Feedback the learnings and insights into future versions of the projects and programs to ensure the best possible impact of our initiatives

Skills/experience:
Post-Secondary Education in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Social Sciences
Excellent knowledge of computer and spreadsheet/word processing software including G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. Comfort in learning new platforms is required
Experience in the development and management of programs for youth and community
Knowledge of local community resources, and the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups on complex community issues is required
Minimum two (2) years management experience
Minimum one (1) year experience in managing budgets
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of French an asset
Effective communication skills including verbal and written skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity and ability to engage various teams and work in a team environment
Ability to travel to RISE hub locations and/or partner and employer organizations, or as needed
Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport
