Project Genesis, a community organization in the culturally diverse Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood, seeks a person for a full-time (5 days a week at 35 hrs/wk) one-year contract for the Escouade salubrité project. The project involves leading collaboratively and carrying out individual service interventions with local tenants and follow-ups on apartment health and safety issues. It also involves participation in collective work on salubrité issues among tenants of given buildings when conditions are in place. This work to improve material living conditions is based within Project Genesis’ fast-paced information, referral, and advocacy center. The role involves close collaboration with Escouade Salubrité project staff of another local community group, and various local actors on housing.

• The center offers front-line services in the areas of tenant rights and on social programs, such as welfare, family benefits, and pensions – at the present time by telephone and, when needed, by in-person appointments according to public health measures.
• The position includes: individual interventions on health and safety issues with local tenants who contact Project Genesis or who are referred by other local organizations; carrying out outreach in local buildings to improve living conditions; follow-up on individual situations; team collaboration with the Escouade Salubrité project staff of another local organization working on housing issues; and maintaining data collection related to the work.
• Qualifications: very good oral and written French and English; ability to learn quickly; attention to detail; ability to analyze complex information; ability to work under pressure independently and within a team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; community sector volunteer or paid experience; individual services experience; some knowledge of social programs and particularly of tenants’ rights. Interest in social rights and in working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds is required.

Project Genesis strives to develop a staff team reflective of the Côte-des-Neiges residents we work with. We encourage candidates who identify as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour (BIPOC) to apply. Salary is within the range of 21.50 to 22.09 /hr. Accumulation of four weeks of vacation, and other benefits, are available.

An application includes a completed Google document form: Apply by following the link in the job posting attached to this announcement. A short cover letter outlining how come you’re applying for this job, and a C.V., are to be attached to the submitted form. Applications must be submitted by April 11th, 2021. We appreciate all applications; only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
