Primary tasks and responsibilities include:
Financial Management
-Organizing and maintaining all financial documents including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable
-Overseeing operations and ensuring compliance with the Concordia University internal Banner accounts
-Liaising with the Co-op’s accountant, the Co-op’s Finance Committee, and the Board Treasurer; Attending Finance Committee meetings
-Preparing and maintaining monthly cash flows, annual budgets and forecasts in consultation with the Finance Committee
-Preparing monthly financial and budget updates with Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to be presented at Board meetings and at the Annual General Meeting
-Coordinating year-end audits and inventory count; Completing year-end transactions, reports, closing the books and coordinating the year-end audit and the preparation of financial statements
Account Management
-Maintaining financial systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
-Reconciling bank accounts
Government Reports
-Communicating with the federal and provincial governments regarding financial matters, including submitting government declarations and remittances
Payroll Preparation and Administration
-Overseeing all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
-Processing source deductions on time
-Issuing annual T4s and RL1s
Organizational Responsibilities
-Presenting monthly staff reports to the Board of Directors
-Presenting an end-of-year staff and financial reports to the membership at the AGM
-Liaising with Concordia administrative bodies and services as appropriate
Shared Responsibilities
-Maintaining and developing office systems with other staff including archiving, filing, computer and communication systems
-Occasionally working at the till or otherwise working in the store
Requirements: The ideal candidate will…
-Have a minimum of 2 years of recent related experience in financial management, bookkeeping, or otherwise, especially in a retail (inventory and sales-based) context
-Have a strong computer literacy skills, including a demonstrable proficiency with Excel
-Have excellent time management and organizational skills, with an exceptional attention to detail
-Be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic, as well as be able to work under pressure
-Have spoken and written fluency in English, as well as intermediate spoken and written French (must be able to read and interpret government documents in French)
-Have strong communication skills
-Have the ability to problem solve
