First Voices – An Evening of Indigenous Cinema

Join Cinema Politica Concordia for First Voices – An Evening of Indigenous Cinema! Director Courtney Montour (FLAT ROCKS) will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. We are thrilled to present an evening of Indigenous-made fiction, documentary and animation, this time featuring powerful women directors and protagonists. The evening will be hosted by Jess Murwin, a queer artist and programmer of mixed Mi’kmaq and Western European descent.

This screening is part of First Voices Week 2019 at Concordia. Admission is by donation ($5-10 suggested). The venue is wheelchair accessible. Childcare provided on site by the Montreal Childcare Collective with 24 hour notice (https://childcarecollective.wordpress.com/about/ )

In this short stop-motion animation Biidaaban sets out to harvest sap from Sugar Maples, working in continuum with Sabe, and other spirit beings.

WARRIOR WOMEN (64’)

An exploration of what it means to balance a movement with motherhood and how activist legacies are passed down from generation to generation.

Nous somme heureux.se.s de présenter une soirée de films de fiction, animation et documentaires crées par de brillantes réalisatrices Autochtones. La soirée sera animée par Jess Murwin, artiste et programmateur.rice queer de descendance Mi’kmaq et Européenne de l’Ouest.
