Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Prevention Program – Activity Leader/Animator

June 25, 2019 @ 12:00 AM

About CHIP (Communicaid for Hearing Impaired Persons)

CHIP is the only non-profit charity serving the anglophone community affected by hearing loss in Montreal for over 35 years. Our mission is to provide continuing programs, services and support to people affected by hearing loss. Our vision is a community where we can hear, be heard and thrive.

Job Description

The Activity Leader/Animator will lead fun, educational programming for groups of school-aged children in a day-camp setting. Curriculum will be provided; the animator will need to learn the material (on the topic of preventing noise-induced hearing loss) and may give the presentation multiple times per day to different groups. Although there is an educational component, the presentation involves running around, and the animator should be comfortable joining in with the children as they complete obstacle courses and other physical activities.
Candidates should have at least one year (or one full-time summer) of experience working with children in an active environment. They should be able to engage and maintain the attention of a large group of children, and also be comfortable using discipline strategies if needed.
Preference will be given to candidates with hearing loss (not necessarily noise-induced). If you are a person with hearing loss who is enthusiastic and motivated, we encourage you to apply even if you are less experienced. Part of the presentation involves sharing a personal experience of hearing loss.

Please submit your CV (in English) and a cover letter in which you:
