QDF seeks Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Job Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, and working in tandem with the QDF staff, the primary duties of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be:

 

  • Coordinating communications between QDF and its membership/stakeholders
    • Craft bi-weekly and monthly email updates
    • Attend industry events, forums, and meetings
    • Chair QDF Communications Committee
  • Marketing of the company and its members
    • Develop advertising strategies and materials for the QDF
    • Management of QDF Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs (WordPress)
    • Develop content for QDF social media sites
    • Oversee content collection, editing, and design of Theatre Calendar
    • Pursue advertisers for the Theatre Calendar
    • Promote membership’s productions, events, workshops, etc
    • Craft press releases and manage media relations
  • Events Coordinator
    • Theatre Calendar Launches
    • Annual Softball Tournament
    • Annual General Meeting
    • Other events and fundraisers
    • Assist on Montreal English Theatre Awards event
  • Administration
    • Basic office administration

The Marketing and Communications coordinator may also be assigned other duties in connection with the workings of the QDF, in relation to other projects that are developed during the course of their work with the organization.

Required training and experience:

-Certified training in marketing and promotion
-At least 6 months of practical work experience
-Experience working with Facebook, Twitter, WordPress etc.
-Experience writing and distributing press releases
-Experience with event planning
-Excellent English and French communication skills (written and spoken)
-Excellent editing skills

Job Details:
30 hrs per week @ $14.00/hour (some weekends and evenings)

About the QDF

Mission:

The Quebec Drama Federation exists to support English-language theatre companies, artists and their artistic expressions in Quebec. This support manifests itself through leadership, collaborations with partners and stakeholders in the community, mobilisation, promotion of the artists and companies, professional development and identification of the role of theatre in the community at large. It also provides resources and means through which success and recognition of English-language theatre companies and artists in Quebec, to the rest of Canada, and on an international scale, is achieved.

QDF exists to cultivate a strong and vital theatre community where artists are recognized as integral parts of the theatrical cultural milieu of Quebec, and as a major contributor to the stability of arts and culture in Quebec and beyond.

Description of programming:

Founded in 1972, and working from its headquarters in Montreal, The Québec Drama Federation (QDF) is a non-profit organization that serves the English-speaking theatre community in Quebec. We deliver a range of activities that address the needs of some 101 theatre companies (professional, independent and community-based) and more than 275 individual theatre practitioners. These activities include: organizational and professional development workshops, provide access to English information and referral regarding English-language theatre practice and resources, develop and facilitate live and digital discussion forums, the development and distribution of the quarterly Theatre Calendar, the planning and presentation of Theatre Season Launches, supporting the planning and presentation of the Montreal English Theatre Awards (METAs) and are working towards creating a digital platform for promotion and audience education as it relates to the practice of English-language theatre in Quebec. Its work also aims at expanding the network of presenters and venues available to the English-speaking communities of Quebec. These activities help to enhance the visibility of Quebec’s English-speaking theatre community, enhance the connections between English-speaking Theatre practitioners and audience, and strengthen the ability of English-speaking theatres artists in Quebec to work and live in their own language.
