CHIP (Communicaid for Hearing Impaired Persons) is a non-profit registered charity serving the anglophone community affected by hearing loss in and around Montreal. This community-based organization was built through the efforts of countless volunteers working thousands of hours over the last 35+ years.
Many of our team and board members are people affected by hearing loss. We understand and are concerned with the struggles and the difficulties that people with hearing issues often experience in their daily lives. We offer several programs and services to our members, including speechreading classes, community outreach, ALD and peer mentorship, and a resource centre.
Our organization currently has a full-time Receptionist opportunity available.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is grant-funded/ Salary Subvention- Applicants must be currently receiving benefits from Emploi Quebec to be eligible for the grant
A college DEC in an administration job related field or a minimum of 1 years experience
Extensive knowledge and experience in an office work environment, preferably in the community based, non-profit sector
Excellent ENGLISH oral and written communication skills. Bilingualism is an asset
Proven organizational and time-management capabilities
Detail oriented with the ability to take initiative to establish priorities, plan ahead and meet deadlines
Creative problem solving and decision-making skills
Professionalism, tact and the ability to use sound judgement and discretion
Advanced computer experience and skills in the use of the G Suite and Google apps
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Receptionist is the front line of CHIP with primary responsibilities to:
Provide support to the organization
Perform reception duties, including but not limited to, registrations, filing, photocopying, faxing and mailing, and data entry
General office duties including but not limited to, answering and prioritizing phone calls, responding to and sending emails, answering questions and directing visitors
Ensure supplies are maintained, organizing the ordering of supplies as required and keeping the office area tidy and presentable
