Project Genesis, a community organization, seeks two people for a permanent position and a one-year contract, both full-time (5 days a week at 35 hrs/wk), for its fast-paced information, referral and advocacy drop-in center located in the culturally diverse Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood.
• The center offers front-line services on tenant-landlord issues and on social programs, such as welfare, family benefits, and pensions.
• The position includes following up on complex individual situations, supervising volunteers, and students, and reviewing intervention files to ensure quality.
• Qualifications: very good oral and written French and English; ability to learn quickly; attention to detail; ability to analyze complex information; ability to work under pressure independently and within a team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; community sector volunteer or paid experience; individual services experience; some knowledge of social programs and tenants’ rights. Interest in social rights, in social justice issues and in working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds is required.
