Summer Job: Multimedia and Communications Specialist @ CHIP

CHIP is a registered charitable not-for-profit organization with the mission to provide continuing programs, services and support in English for people affected by hearing loss. CHIP is currently offering a summer-student employment opportunity as Multimedia and Communications Specialist at its Head Office located in Notre Dame de Grace, Montreal (near Concordia Loyola Campus).

CHIP’s Summer-Student Program provides an opportunity to learn about running a non-profit organization, develop your skills, interact with staff, volunteers and members, and get a great long-term reference for future job opportunities. You will work under the supervision of the Executive Director, who will provide you with training, guidance, support and ongoing developmental feedback.

The role of the Multimedia and Communications Specialist is to assist CHIP to fulfill its mission by producing and implementing a communication plan with best practices and based on CHIP’s objectives, unique needs and limited means.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Learn to understand CHIP’s work culture, needs and objectives.

Conduct an internal assessment and evaluation of the current status of CHIP’s communication tools, includes website, social media and all printed material.

Identify strengths areas of need and make recommendations;

Develop and design communication tools for the website and social media. Work with a web designer to integrate CHIP’s identity and to unify all platforms.

Update sites using and developing computer coding with other specialized images and graphics. Produce digital and printed forms of information;

Plan and cultivate web and social media development plans and strategies, as well as standard practices.

Develop and co-animate staff and volunteer training and support;

Elaborate an action plan with structure and standard practices, and maintenance procedures.

Skills and qualifications:

Desired level of education: post-secondary student in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT), computer & information systems, web marketing, computer support specialist, digital media marketing

Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. French is an asset but not mandatory;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to work independently;

Demonstrate analytical thinking, problem solving and and visual communication skills. Ability to prioritize and meet regular deadlines, and to work well in a team environment;

Have strong technical abilities with software and scripting programs, and must be very creative;

Computer skills: software programs to create digital or visual graphic images for multimedia and printed forms of information, and to create and maintain website applications.

Hourly wage rate: To be discussed

Salary: $12.00 /hour
