The ETRC is looking for an enthusiastic and autonomous student, passionate about history, to work on a two-part project in the Archives Department. The project will give the successful candidate an opportunity to get a feel for working with archives as they preserve and organize documents and photographsattesting to the history of the English-speaking communities of the Eastern Townships. The project will further expand the student’srealm of knowledge through the digitization of historical documents and will make them available on the ETRC’s website.

Location: Bishop’s University, Sherbrooke, Quebec
Wage: $12.30/hour, 35 hours/week
Dates: 25 May 2015 to 28 August 2015 (14 weeks)
-be a student in a program related to document and archives management; or
-be a student in a program related the study of history; or
-have pertinent work experience in the processing of historical archives;
-possess some knowledge of the history and geography of the Eastern Townships;
-be familiar with basic Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel;
-be fluent in English with a good knowledge of French;
-possess good research and writing skills;
-demonstrate an ability to work autonomously.
This job is offered through funding from Young Canada Works, a Canadian
Heritage program. As a result, all candidates must meet the following eligibility
are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
are legally entitled to work in Canada;
will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW;
have been a full-time student (as defined by your educational institution) in the
semester preceding the YCW job;
intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
