Covid-19 has rapidly transformed our communities around the globe. Throughout, those living with mental health challenges continue to face barriers and stigma.
Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is seeking TWO creative and digitally savvy individuals for the volunteer roles of Digital Storyteller (DS). MDSC’s DS will create content for MDSC’s Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn accounts. This content will reflect the DS’s personal experience, the experiences of those in DS’s community, and other stories found online, with the ultimate goal of illustrating how Covid-19 has impacted the mental health of Canadians. The DS will create video, infographic, comic, blog, and/or other creative digital medium content under the supervision of MDSC’s Social Media Coordinator. This is an unpaid position that requires a one-year commitment. Position Details Develop creative digital content that illustrates the stories and experiences of those living with mental health challenges during the pandemic. Strong preference for individuals with video production and video editing program knowledge. Stay up to date on research concerned with the impact of Covid-19 on mental health. Actively research and seek out unique perspectives to feature on MDSC’s social media platforms. Work from a ‘virtual’ office. Remain in steady communication with MDSC’s Social Media Coordinator. The estimated time commitment for this position is 3-5 hours per week. We ask for a minimum commitment of one year for this position. Qualifications Strong knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. Creative and digitally savvy. Past experience creating digital content. Strong research, writing, and editing skills. Ability to pitch projects, create work plans, and stay accountable to deadlines. Capacity to remain organized while working independently and collaboratively from a virtual workspace. Demonstrated understanding of mental illness and the mental health field, and/or lived experience with depression. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality, bringing concerns or questions to the attention of supervisors when needed.
