DESCRIPTION
Les studios ambulants de création audiovisuelle et musicale du Wapikoni mobile roulent vers les communautés des Premières Nations du Québec et du Canada depuis 2004, afin d’initier les jeunes à la réalisation de courts métrages et de vidéoclips. Le Wapikoni est à la recherche d’un(e) intervenant(e) jeunesse pour travailler pendant 4 semaines dans une communauté autochtone lors d’une escale de formation. Ses mandats sont l’intervention auprès des jeunes, la liaison avec la communauté et la coordination des activités pendant l’escale. Cette personne travaille en collaboration avec deux cinéastes-accompagnateurs, ainsi que deux personnes embauchées dans la communauté comme coordonnateur(trice) local(e) et assistant(e)-formateur(trice).

PRINCIPALES RESPONSABILITÉS
Sous la supervision de l’équipe de coordination terrain, l’intervenant(e) devra:

 Faire la promotion de l’escale avec le (la) coordonnateur (trice) local(e) et contribuer au recrutement des jeunes
 Assurer un encadrement du (de la) coordonnateur (trice) local(e)
 Accueillir les participants, leur offrir écoute et support psychologique
 Accompagner les participants dans la réalisation de leurs objectifs personnels
 Orienter les jeunes vers les différentes ressources selon leurs besoins
 Représenter le Wapikoni mobile auprès de différentes institutions dans la communauté (Conseil de bande, Centre de santé, école, etc.)
 Entretenir les liens de collaboration avec les personnes-clés de la communauté (institutions, organismes jeunesse, anciens participants, etc.)
 Participer à l’organisation des tournages et veiller à ce que la documentation soit complétée
 Organiser la projection de fin d’escale et les invitations en collaboration avec la coordination locale
 Réaliser toutes autres tâches connexes reliées aux activités du Wapikoni mobile

COMPÉTENCES
 Diplôme en travail social ou autre domaine connexe
 Un minimum de deux ans d’expérience en intervention sociale ou expérience pertinente (avec jeunes un atout)
 Connaissances préalables adéquates du milieu autochtone au Québec et au Canada
 Expérience dans des communautés autochtones ou à l’étranger un atout
 Capacité à créer des liens de confiance et à faire preuve d’empathie
 Habiletés en communication interpersonnelle
 Aptitudes à travailler en équipe et à mobiliser les forces de chacun
 Sens de l’organisation
 À l’aise en situation d’incertitude
 Fait preuve d’initiative et de créativité face aux imprévues
 Capacité à résoudre des conflits
 Adaptabilité (réalité interculturelle, région éloignée, horaires variables)
 Maîtrise du français et/ou de l’anglais (connaissance d’une langue autochtone un atout)
 Permis de conduire et expérience sur la route obligatoire

LIEU DE TRAVAIL : Dans une communauté autochtone (à déterminer)
CONDITIONS DE TRAVAIL : Contrat de 4 semaines. Les escales auront lieu entre mai et octobre 2018.

Youth outreach worker

DESCRIPTION
Wapikoni’s audio-visual/musical training studio has been travelling in Indigenous communities across Quebec and Canada since 2004, to acquaint youth with making short films and videoclips. Wapikoni is currently looking for a youth outreach worker for a four-week assignment in an Indigenous community during a training stopover. Responsibilities include working with youth and supporting them, serving as community liaison, and coordinating activities during the stopover. The individual will work with two filmmakers mentors, as well as with two persons hired from the community as a local coordinator and assistant trainer, respectively.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Under the supervision of the field’s coordination team, the youth outreach worker will:

 Promote the stopover with the local coordinator and contribute to recruiting youth
 Supervise the local coordinator
 Welcome the participants to the Wapikoni mobile, listen to them, and provide psychological support
 Support participants in the achievement of their personal goals
 Refer youth toward the various available resources according to their needs
 Represent Wapikoni to the various institutions in the community (band council, health centre, school, etc.)
 Maintain collaborative relations with key persons in the community (institutions, youth organizations, former participants, etc.)
 Participate in organizing video/film shoots and ensure the necessary paperwork is completed
 Organize the screening at the end of the stopover, including sending invitations, in collaboration with the local coordinating team
 Perform all other tasks related to Wapikoni ‘s activities

QUALIFICATIONS
 Degree in social work or other related field
 Minimum two years’ social work or other relevant experience (with youth an asset)
 Sufficient acquaintance with Indigenous culture in Quebec and Canada
 Experience within Indigenous communities or abroad an asset
 Empathy and ability to build ties based on trust
 Interpersonal communication skills
 Ability to work in a team and to bring out the best in team members
 Organizational skills
 Ability to handle uncertain situations with ease
 Initiative and creativity when unforeseen circumstances arise
 Conflict-resolution skills
 Adaptability (to cultural differences, to working in a remote area with variable hours)
 Good command of French and/or English (Indigenous languages an asset)
 Driver’s licence and good driving experience

WORK LOCATION: In an Indigenous community (to be determined).
WORK CONDITIONS: Four-week contract. Stopovers will take place between May and October 2018.
