Location: 2365 Grand Trunk, Pointe Saint Charles, Montreal QC
Hours: 16 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:15-5:15pm; staff meetings: Tuesdays, 1:15-2:15pm; 3 hours of prep time per week (flexible)
Dates: September 5th 2017 – June 8th 2018 (excluding holidays and certain pedagogical days)
Salary: $13 per hour
The youth worker for our pre-adolescent program is responsible for planning and animating programming that provides a wide variety of learning opportunities to youth in preparation for the transition into high school. The youth worker will develop supportive relationships with a group of youth at-risk in grades 5-6 and their families, and provide ongoing support, encouragement and follow-up throughout the year.
Responsibilities
• Plan and animate activities that provide a wide variety of learning opportunities
• Supervise and assist youth with their homework
• Help youth develop a positive attitude towards learning and become independent learners
• Plan and supervise outings to local high schools, community spaces and other activities or events
• Develop and implement individualized learning plans and intervention plans when needed
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all youth during program hours
• Support and integrate volunteers into the program, including older youth completing work training or community service programs
• Communicate regularly with caregivers and include them in program activities, decision-making and interventions
• Assist with monthly family activities and other events
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings
