October 17 2014 compliance deadline for Federally registered nonprofits

Are you a federally registered (as opposed to provincially registered) nonprofit? If so, have you taken the necessary steps to comply to the new Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporations Act? You have until October 17 2014 to get your compliance certificates, which will require getting approval from your members for the documents you need to submit, if you haven’t done so already. If you don’t get your compliance certificates, your organization will be dissolved on October 17 2014. If you’ve got an upcoming AGM, you may have to add a point or two to your agenda!
