Resource: Starting up community arts initiatives in rural and First Nations communities
We’ve been digging through the Art Bridges resource centre recently, and finding a wealth of great resources for small, grassroots projects. We especially loved this interview about starting up community arts projects in rural and First Nations communities– but the advice is good for whatever kind of project you might be working on in that context.
“If you are drawn to doing this kind of work, there is a good likelihood that you have some of the basic skills that are needed. What I think is most important is having self-awareness, and an awareness of the role you play when you enter a space; how you might be perceived based on the different kinds of privilege that you carry.”
