A free new service for caregivers: “Respite Saturdays”

Located at the Pavillion Philippe Lapointe, 234 rue St-Vincent, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. On October 27th, November 24th and December 15th 2012.

Located at the Centre de services externe in Mont-Tremblant, 925 rue de St-Jovite. On October 13th, November 10th and December 1st 2012

Respite Saturdays are provided for caregivers who live at home with a family member suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive illness. This service is offered free of charge to caregivers who look after dependant seniors experiencing a loss of autonomy. Hopefully, this day of rest will enable the caregiver s to avoid physical and psychological exhaustion so that they may continue to care for their loved ones at home.

From 10 am to 4 pm, a typical Saturday programme might resemble:

  • 10am: Arrival of participants (family provides transportation)
  • Welcome and presentation of day’s activity:
  • 12 pm: Lunch free for participants
  • 1 pm: Cognitive stimulation workshop and recreational games:
  • 4 pm: Departure of participants (family provides transportation)

For further information or for inscriptions (places are still available), please contact the person responsible for the project “Samedis de répit” at FADOQ Laurentides at 819-429-5858 ext: 226.
