1. Coco: COCo launches “Commun-IT” pilot project

Commun-IT (http://commun-it.ca/) is a pilot project by COCo to help community groups take advantage of Information and Communications Technology.

For years at COCo we have seen community groups struggling with websites, servers, social media communication strategies, basic office work stations, etc. – the list goes on and on. Now with Commun-IT we can finally provide some solutions and resources.

But we can’t do it on our own! We need you to spread the word to your networks about Commun-IT, give us feedback on the Beta version of the website, and follow Commun-IT on Facebook: facebook.com/cococommunitytech and Twitter: @communITqc

We aim to empower individuals and communities by providing a working alternative to current market-based systems of food collection and distribution. We oppose privatization, corporatization, and other processes that actively disempower people by obstructing their access to resources and independence. We will provide education on food issues, both inside and outside of the collective, and provide a space for the exchange of ideas within the community. We recognize that much of the politics surrounding food production and distribution are part of a larger system of oppression.
