As 2025 comes to a close, we hope all of you can find a minute to reflect on the last year at your organization and everything you accomplished. It can be easy to remember the challenges, and forget the successes, so here is our reminder to you to take a minute and reflect on a couple of things you are proud of. Besides, it will help you get a head start on that annual report!

Our Wishes for Community Sector Workers at the End of the Year

We’re going to be closed for a couple of weeks at the end of December and beginning of January. Whether you get a similar reset period, or whether you are part of the many community workers and organizations doing hard and important work over the holiday season (thank you!!), here are some wishes our team has for you for the holiday period.

Some time with yourself and for yourself

I hope that everyone gets a moment to feel good in your body and mind, finds some gentleness, and some time for self care and self love! As well as connection with our community, with our loved ones, and can create many beautiful memories to sustain us in the future. – Janie

Care & reflection

May this time offer space for reflection, connection, and care: for ourselves, our communities, and the Earth. I wish for rest that is accessible to all, joy that doesn’t depend on consumption, and community care that uplifts those most impacted by systemic oppression. – Florencia

Rest for everyone

My hope is that the holiday season will be an opportunity for everyone to slow down, enjoy a few days of calm, and indulge in small or big pleasures, whether alone, with family, or with friends. – Stella

I am wishing everyone a holiday period where they get to slow down and connect with themselves and with those that they love. Our Wishes for the Nonprofit Sector in 2026

Headed into 2026, here are a few of our wishes for all of us.

A dose of courage

May the year ahead bring deeper collaborations, collective liberation, and the courage to build the more equitable world we all deserve. – Florencia

Fair and flexible funding

Coming into 2026, I wish for all of Québec’s community sector to receive fair, flexible, and forward looking partnerships and funding! I hope that this kind of sustainability can be offered to everyone working on the ground for social justice, peace, health, the environment, and socialism. – Estelle

Investment in public services from our governments

My dream for this upcoming new year is that the provincial and federal governments invest in public services and stop outsourcing work to underfunded community organisations. I dream of core funding to community organizations so they can advocate, build community, and embody their values… and much more.  I dream of a real social housing strategy so no one has to spend the cold winter outdoors. I dream that we change our profoundly unjust immigration system that has been built on indigenous stolen lands. I dream of networks of mutual and collective care, so no one has to be alone in this period of celebrations. And I wish deep rest to everyone: the tired souls working under capitalism, the folks who are breaking cycles of intergenerational traumas & systemic oppressions, the activists & community workers who are doing their best and a bit more to weave the social fabric of our society.
