2 New Funding Opportunities To Check Out!
We’re not usually in the business of listing new grant opportunities, but these two came across our desk recently and seemed uniquely suited to COCO members. Check them out!
The Community Innovation Fund (CIF). As per their own description, the fund is a new resource for Quebec’s English-speaking communities to put social innovation in action. Between April 2017 and March 2019, CIF will invest more than $1 million in social initiatives while building partnerships to increase funds that will be injected into the community.
As they explained to us, the term “English-speaking” refers not only to people whose mother tongue is English, but those whose First Official Language is English. In other words, CIF funding could be provided to projects involving service to vulnerable newcomers, youth and seniors whose mother tongue was not English or French (so-called “allophones”), but who make significant use of English in daily life in Quebec.
You can visit their website here for more information. To apply, there is a two-step process starting with a letter of intent- the deadline for that letter is December 9, 2016.
Le Lab Culturel is looking to support digital arts and culture projects, both financially and through providing mentorship to accepted projects. Past projects included everything from podcasts to video archives and virtual reality experiences, and the goal is to increase public participation in local culture. The deadline to apply is January 12th, and you can find their website here.
