Over the last decade, we’ve come back often to the idea of anti-oppression—a word that we understand as a set of tools for thinking about how social justice is lived in organizations and in relationships. For us, we want to engage with social justice & anti-oppression as something that is a core part of organizational health– not a distinct, or supplementary aspect of our work.

Next Week, Quebec Community Groups Will Strike for the 2nd Time

As part of a 3 day campaign on November 7th, 8th, and 9th, community groups across Quebec will, for the second year in a row, unite to take action for better funding.

In the context of austerity measures– which simultaneously increase the number of people turning to community groups for support and decreases their resources– Quebec community groups have taken a unique and novel approach: using direct actions and striking to demand adequate resources, together. Last year, 1200 organizations went on strike, and many more participated in actions and demonstrations.

Apply for an Innoweave Cloud Computing Grant!

If you’re interested in web-based technology and cloud computing for your organization, you could get an implementation grant from Innoweave to work with one of their registered coaches. Parker and Spencer (from Commun-IT) are both registered coaches with Innoweave.

Innoweave provides small grants to help organizations access the coaching that they require to implement a new approach using cloud computing platforms / technology.

Comprehensive and Interactive Social Media Training for Centraide Funded Organizations

Have you heard? COCo has developed a series of interactive, hands on, and community sector specific trainings about social media, currently available to Centraide funded organizations over the course of the fall and winter. From ensuring that your content is reaching your audience, to understanding the details of Facebook, the training asks: how can organizations with limited resources develop a social strategy that helps them achieve their mission?
