Vous aimeriez en savoir plus sur la reconnaissance territoriale ? Mieux comprendre cette pratique d’un point de vue autochtone ?

Les ateliers/C vous invitent, le jeudi 27 février 2025 de 9h30 à 12h30, pour un atelier sur le thème de la reconnaissance territoriale. L’atelier sera animé par Joannie Gill, fondatrice et directrice de Utapi Consultants et membre de la Première Nation des Pekuakamiulnuatsh. Il se tiendra sur Zoom, en français avec un service d’interprétation en anglais.

Utapi Consultants est une entreprise autochtone à vocation sociale qui offre des services de consultation, de formation et d’ateliers pour former des Allié.e.s pour les causes autochtones, dans une perspective de réconciliation et de décolonisation des pensées dans la population francophone.

Cet atelier est une opportunité pour les membres du secteur communautaire de comprendre pourquoi reconnaître les territoires traditionnels et non-cédés sur lesquels nous vivons et comment les personnes issues des Premiers Peuples perçoivent le message. Joannie Gill nous amènera à en apprendre davantage sur les droits ancestraux, la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur les droits des Peuples autochtones, ou encore la façon dont vous pouvez créer une reconnaissance territoriale qui fait du sens.

Objectif de l’atelier : 

• Avoir une meilleure compréhension des fondements de la reconnaissance territoriale autochtone et des enjeux qui l’entourent.

Informations techniques

• Pour rappel, les Ateliers/C sont réservés exclusivement aux groupes communautaires du Grand Montréal. Toute autre candidature sera refusée.
• L’espace se fera par Zoom avec un service d’interprétation, nous demandons aux participant.e.s d’utiliser un casque pour la sécurité des interprètes.
• Le nombre de places est limité à 2 personnes par organisme.
• Un soutien financier est offert aux participant.e.s de communautés marginalisées dont la situation financière représente un obstacle à la participation aux ateliers.

Would you like to find out more about land acknowledgement? To better understand this practice from an Indigenous perspective?

Les Ateliers/C invite you to a workshop on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the theme of land acknowledgements. The workshop will be held on Zoom in French and English via a translation service, and will be led by Joannie Gill, founder and director of Utapi Consultants and member of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation.

Utapi Consultants is an Indigenous social enterprise that offers consulting services, training and workshops to train Allies of Indigenous causes, in a perspective of reconciliation and decolonization of thoughts in the French-speaking population.

This workshop is an opportunity for members of the community sector to understand why we should recognize the traditional and unceded territories on which we live, and how people from First Peoples backgrounds perceive the message. Joannie Gill will lead us in learning more about ancestral rights, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and how you can create meaningful land acknowledgements.

Workshop Objectives:

• Gaining a better understanding of the foundations of indigenous land recognition/acknowledgements and the issues surrounding it.

• As a reminder, the Ateliers/C are reserved exclusively for Greater Montreal community groups. All other applications will be refused.
• The space will be provided by Zoom with an interpreting service. We ask participants to use headphones for the safety of the interpreters.
• Space is limited to 2 people per organization.
• Financial support is available for participants from marginalized communities whose financial situation is a barrier to participation in the workshops.
